From problematic bowl bottoms to pesky bowl components, you probably know the headaches of dealing with centrifuge issues that are on the fritz all too well.

With the Separators team on your side and the help of our Indianapolis shop, you can rest assured your centrifuge will be spinning like new in no time.

What we fix in our Indianapolis shop

If you're tired of dealing with vibrations, pitting, galling, and all the other headaches that come with a finicky centrifuge, read on. We're about to dive into the nitty-gritty of centrifuge repairs, from simple fixes to more complex overhauls.

Quick quote services

These repairs are more routine, allowing our team to give you a quick quote to help speed up the repair and get it back to you faster.

1. Centripetal Pumps/Impellers and Feed Tubes: By fixing your existing pumps, you can save thousands of dollars and get like-new pumps delivered back to your plant, often in under a week's time after sending them in.

2. Disc Compressors: If you notice leakage or loss of vacuum during centrifuge operation, it could be a sign that the disc compressor seals are worn or damaged, allowing air to enter the system.

3. Bowl and Frame Tools: Excessive wear, damage, or deformation to the jaws/teeth/body can cause slippage, difficulty tightening/loosening the lock ring, and visible cracks or corrosion. This affects tool integrity and function and are all signs that your tools need repair.

4. Inlet/Outlet Housings: Got leaks? While not the most common thing we see come into our shop, when they do, we'll make sure they're running like a dream.

Typically, these repairs are called out during a field service event, such as your minor or major service visit. The need for repair is noted on your service report, and our team will help you to get the items shipped to Indy.

More complex fixes

Sometimes, centrifuge components require a little extra time (and love) to get back up and running again. For these repairs, an estimated turnaround time will be provided as part of your quote.

6. Bowl Bottoms: From pitting and galling to tread wear, shoddy fit, and lack of disc pressure, we've seen it all.

One of the main culprits? A bad nave. If the nave doesn't make contact with your bowl (~80%), it will cause vibrations and other issues.

Damage centrifuge nave

The blue on the tapered section of the spindle shows how well the nave fits. In this case, the nave had come straight from a plant having issues with vibrations. The blue indicates the lack of contact being made between the two, quickly diagnosing the issue.

7. Bowl Components: The sliding piston is the big dog when it comes to bowl issues. Rubbing, galling, and using the wrong tools — you name it, we've fixed it. The distributor is often the second biggest troublemaker. Misalignment can really hurt your equipment and efficacy, and pitting can create imbalance quickly.

8. Lower Frames, Tubs, and Domes: They might not be the common culprits, but when they need some love, we're here to give 'em a good ol' fashioned overhaul.

Simple fixes = a few days turnaround

Once in Indy they are thoroughly inspected, estimated, and a quote is pulled together for your review. Once we get your signature or a PO, we'll get to work.

For simple repairs, we can usually have your parts in a box and ready to ship back to you in just 1–2 days.
