A lot of the time, businesses focus on what they do and who they do it for. What they do is usually offer products and services, and who they serve is the individuals or businesses that use those products and services. But successful companies don’t stop there. Instead, they take time to look at how they do what they do and why they do it, and they invest in those ideas.

I think we do a great job talking about what we do and whom we do it for, and we even touch on how we do what we do. But we don’t spend enough time on the how or why behind Separators. Until now, that is.

The Separators Way

We first developed the Separators Way as an internal idea. It was our way of boiling down the how and the why behind what we do. It’s a representation of our mission and our values. It includes five distinct statements and our five core values. This is the Separators Way:

Empowering our people to deliver EXCELLENCE to our customers.

A commitment to work as a TEAM FIRST to deliver consistent results to individuals.

People who are committed to ROW IN THE SAME DIRECTION with the curiosity to solve problems.

PROCESS AND TOOLS that assist the team by providing the information needed to impact the business.

Doing everything the “RIGHT WAY” by adhering to our core values of:

- Customer Service
- Trust
- Mutual Respect
- Continuous Improvement
- Integrity

Every employee knows the Separators Way. In fact, you’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t have a copy of it hanging in their workspace. It serves as a daily reminder of how we approach our work and what we’re striving toward. The Separators Way also gives us a foundation for growing our company and moving us forward. And we can’t talk about that without talking about quality, quantity, and direction.

Quality

We strive for quality in everything we do. And when we identify an opportunity to improve a quality aspect of our company, we’re going to dedicate resources to doing just that.

In just the last few years, we’ve added two distinct groups focused on improving various quality aspects of our company. The Technical Service Group and our Customer Success Group. Both of these groups perform essential functions to support the quality of our products, services, and customer relationships.

Quantity

When we talk about quantity, we’re referring to the number of customers we serve. We’re also referring to the different industries those customers work in and the size and scale of our individual customers.

It’s important for our customers to know that we work with companies in the dairy foods top 100 and fortune 500 companies. We also work with local, family businesses and artisan cheesemakers. Our work is focused on relationships and supporting our customers to maintain optimally functioning equipment and hit their production goals.

Direction

The final piece to moving our company forward is having direction. For us, having direction means that everybody’s day-to-day efforts are working toward the same big picture goal. Setting our direction includes both quality and quantity, and it relies on both of those aspects of our company getting stronger and more impactful for our customers and us.

We use all of these areas, the Separators Way, our core values, quality, quantity, and direction to remain focused not only on the work we do each and every day but the company we hope to be in the future.
